Sluggerrr, Dontae Finley, Eddie Rodriguez and Luis Maes at Youth of the Year Celebration
Dontae Finley - Receives 2023 Kansas City Urban Youth Academy of the Year Award
Dontaé was chosen to represent us as our academy Youth of the Year because of his immense positivity, his commitment to service, and his academic excellence. Taé exemplifies our mission to build a strong foundation for youth based on work ethic, leadership, responsibility, accountability and moral principles. He is already a role model for the younger generation of kids that are a part of our academy. The purpose of the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy is to provide our community’s youth with a dual opportunity to develop into high-character members of society and, at the same time, learn the skills of baseball and softball. Both of these Dontaé has been able to achieve on and off the field. On the field Dontaé was part of our Commissioner’s Cup team, our baseball programming and our RBI regional tournament team. Off the field he also is a percussionist in his high school band, a volunteer manager for the Ruskin High girls’ softball team, and an umpire for the RBI program. Dontaé has made a tremendous contribution to the academy and to our community and that is why we are happy to introduce him as the recipient of our academy Youth of the Year award!
