"The Truth About Recruiting" will provide some fundamental information about what the recruiting process looks like for 90% of high school athletes as the process applies to the athletes and to the schools. Athletes will learn how to actively market themselves while gaining insights from college coaches/recruiters. This is a 3-part course that will focus on the following topics:
December 3: Creating a Game Plan
- Explaining the clearinghouse
- Explaining the clearinghouse
- Explanation of allotted scholarships in baseball
- How full-ride scholarships are actually accomplished
- Identify schools that will be a good academically, financially, and economically
- FAFSA
December 10: Marketing Yourself
- Need for a recruiting service?
- Introductory email content
- Skills video content and length
- Utilizing your high school or summer coach for a recommendation letter
- Importance of going where wanted
December 16: Coaches Panel
- Bring college coaches in from the following levels to share their insights into recruiting and playing college baseball: junior college, NCCAA, NAIA, NCAA D-II, NCAA D-1
- Types of questions to be answered:
- How do coaches show interest in players?
- How do coaches put together a financial package?
- What are the recruiting rules for each of the different levels
- How do coaches evaluate players?
- What are some recruiting myths or stereotypes about college baseball that you would like to address?
- What do players struggle with the most when first joining a college baseball program?
