The KCUYA Science of Baseball camp will be a free two-week program that aligns with Math and Next Generation Science Standards for the states of MO and KS. Selected students will learn about various aspects of STEM, and how it relates to baseball, careers, and overall life skills. The culmination of the camp will have students develop a STEM project with a field trip to Kauffman Stadium where they will display their projects during a home Royals game. Each day is divided up into 2 parts. Half the time will be spent in the classroom and the other half each day will be spent on the field. The last hour of the day is dedicated to developing projects.

Students:

The max capacity of the camp is 50 students. This camp is for students in 3rd - 6th grade. Open to both boys and girls.

Dates:

The dates for the camps are Monday June 10th- Thursday June 13th and Monday June 17th- Thursday June 20th. You must be able to commit to each day. A STEM project will be developed by each student throughout the camp, so if your child does not attend or create a project they will unfortunately be unable to attend the field trip to Kauffman Stadium for the Royals game.

Time:

Monday June 10th- Thursday June 13th: 9am- 3pm

Monday June 17th- Wednesday June 19th: 9am-2pm

Thursday June 20th: 9am-7pm

  • Today (Thursday, June 20th) is the field trip day to Kauffman Stadium. Students will be at the Academy the entire day. A bus will transport all students and staff to the stadium where the STEM projects developed will be placed on display before the game and fans can interact and talk with students about their projects. Each family will receive 1 ticket and parking pass to attend the game and pick up their student. Each student must be picked up at the game as there is no return transportation back to KCUYA. A parking pass and ticket will be provided to each family to alleviate any burden in attending and parking to do so.

Lunch:

Harvesters will be able to provide all students a sack lunch each day of the camp.

Pick-Up Procedure:

To be proactive and maintain the safety and security of your students while they are with us at the Academy we will ask for a list of approved and unapproved individuals who can pick up and leave the Academy with your child. Please bring a form of ID with you or let whoever is listed know they need a form of ID and be on the approved list before we will let a student leave the Academy. If someone comes to pick up your student and their name is not listed we will call the primary contact for approval.

Any additional questions please reach out to KCUYA Educational Program Coordinator: Tia Sandoval at Tia.Sandoval@Royals.com

FYI: The registration will ask demographic questions. This information is kept confidential. The information will be compiled without names or any other identifiable information and used in reports for grants and fundraising efforts as the KC MLB Urban Youth Academy is a 501C3 nonprofit.
